October is finally here, which means nothing but candy, costumes, and trick-or-treating all
around Calhoun County! We know parents and guardians alike, especially the busy bees, want
to make the most out of Halloween for their little ones. So, we at the Calhoun County Visitors
Bureau have put together the perfect “fill your bag with candy” Halloween itinerary. And guess
what? Trick-or-treating isn’t just on Halloween! Calhoun County has an array of trunk-or-treat
events that are perfect for your little ghosts and goblins to safely collect goodies indoors and
outdoors!
First up, mark your calendars for October 26th!
Start the spooky day with the Tricks, Treats, and Tacos event at Battle Creek Harley-Davidson
from 11 AM to 1 PM. Not only can kids trunk-or-treat, but they can also enjoy a pumpkin hunt,
skeleton egg draw, and of course, tacos! This is meant to be a quick 10-15 minute stop, so don’t
plan on parking for too long, just long enough to snag some candy and a tasty treat.
Next, hop on over to the Fraternal Order of Eagles 299 in Battle Creek for their annual
Trunk or Treat from 1 PM to 3 PM. Kids under 16 can enjoy a free hotdog, chips, and hot
chocolate to fuel up for the candy collection, while parents can grab the same for just $2. This
event is open to the public, and if you're feeling creative, you're welcome to decorate your own
trunk and join the fun by handing out candy to the eager trick-or-treaters.
And you can also head over to Marshall for a double dose of spooky fun! Starting with the
Firefighters’ Halloween Parade, held every year on the last Saturday of October, you can catch
hundreds of ghosts, ghouls, and goblins making their way through downtown. The parade
begins at Marshalls City Hall and is followed by trick-or-treating at participating downtown
businesses, perfect for rounding out your little one’s candy stash even more.
Then, from 6 PM to 8 PM, swing by GracePoint Church, for their Trunk-or-Treat. This free
family-friendly event offers tons of fun with bouncy houses, cornhole, donuts, hot dogs, hot
chocolate, coffee, face painting, movies, video games, and of course, candy. There’s truly
something for everyone. Costumes are encouraged, but not required, so come as you are and
enjoy the evening.
Then, it’s time to head over to the Royal Funeral Home for a slightly spookier affair! From
4:30 PM to 7 PM, their trunk-or-treat offers a fun and festive Halloween experience. There's
something chilling about trick or treating at a funeral home, the perfect combo of tricks and
treats, if you ask us.
Last but definitely not least, don’t miss out on the big finale! On October 31st, Halloween
day, wrap up your candy-filled journey with the Trunk or Treat at Trinity Neighborhood Center
from 5 PM to 7 PM. They’ll have candy stations set up in the parking lot, and if the weather
decides to be tricky, no worries, the event will move indoors to the Celebration Center. Or, for
those craving a bit of a hero's touch to their trick-or-treat, head over to the Battle Creek Police
Trunk or Treat from 5 PM to 7 PM, where police officers and first responders will decorate their
trunks and hand out candy.
And don't forget to stop by Sweets on Superior on Halloween night from 5 PM to 7 PM as well,
hosted by the Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce in Downtown Albion. With treats galore,
your little ones will be able to score loads of candy as they stroll along Superior Street.
There you have it, a Halloween itinerary filled with sweet treats, spooky fun, and memories that’ll
last far beyond the candy rush. Be safe out there trick or treaters!
